All children are expected to do homework to practise skills taught in the academy, to research topics and to provide a link with parents in knowing about the work being undertaken in the Academy.
Homework is sent home weekly on a Friday and is handed in the following Thursday. It will cover Maths, English and creative aspects linked to topic to help support our Arts Mark application.
All children will also have weekly spelling and times tables tests which help them to become secure in skills necessary of the National Curriculum.
Our Superheroes Times Tables Challenge is also something that can be practised regularly at home so children become fluent in recalling key multiplication facts.
We also encourage children to read at home everyday (and have a story read to them!) and ask that an adult signs the green reading diary so class teachers are made aware.
In our Reception class, reading practice, phonics and the application of these skills in practical situations are vital in supporting children’s learning. We would also encourage you to count with your children and help them to recognise numbers 0 to 10.
Times Tables Rock Stars is also available for children to log in to at home to help develop speed and recall of times tables.
Please support your child at home and ensure homework is completed.
