Religion and Worldviews

As a school we use the KaPOW Scheme of work to deliver Religion and Worldviews

We chose this scheme because...

  • It was written in consultation with experienced advisors and representatives from the included worldviews
  • Covers the Religious Education Council Curriculum Framework for RE in England (non-statutory guidance)
  • It has built-in CPD with teacher subject knowledge
  • It is progressive, diverse and provides a relevant curriculum

Knowledge and skills developed

- Responding to life's 'big questions'

- Understanding key religious concepts

- Building substantive knowledge

- Developing disciplinary skills

- Contributing to informed discussions

- Exploring diversity

Parents and careers have the right to withdraw their child from religious education and collective worship and the school must grant this request. Withdrawal does not require a reason from the parent and the school is not responsible for providing alternative provision or extra work. However, the school must supervise the children during the time they're not participating in religious education. Parents are encouraged to discuss their concerns at the school and seek a meeting with the headteacher or member of Senior Leadership to discuss the practical implications of withdrawal.
